The core gold-sink mechanic for chasing unique and rare items from NPC vendors
A system where you pay gold to an NPC for unidentified items. Items are identified on purchase — most roll magic, but there is a small chance of unique or set items.

If unique/set roll fails → downgrades to rare
The ilvl of gambled items is determined by your character level (clvl).
ilvl = clvl−5 ~ clvl+4 (min 5)Higher levels unlock better affixes and increase unique chances.

Unique items require qlvl ≤ ilvl to appear. Since gambling ilvl = clvl−5 to clvl+4, the safe level (qlvl + 5) guarantees every roll qualifies.
