Bind Demon skill level grants affixes to bound demons. At Lv20, a random aura is assigned. Unbinding kills the demon instantly, so you must bind a new one to re-roll.
Binding a demon with the "Cursed" modifier makes your bound demon cast Amplify Damage on hit — reducing enemy physical resistance by -100%, roughly doubling or tripling physical damage.
Super uniques spawn with random affixes in addition to their fixed mods. The optimal strategy is to repeatedly bind S-tier super uniques (Hephasto, Lister, etc.) until you find one with "Cursed" as a random mod. Since unbinding kills the demon, you must remake the game and find the same super unique again.
Some monsters have inherent abilities built into their base class, separate from unique modifiers. These scale with difficulty and are often inactive in Normal.
S-tier demons combine high combat stats (HP, defense, resistances) with top-quality Consume buffs, making them valuable for Summoner, Blood Boil, Echoing Strike, and Apocalypse builds alike.
Lister the Tormentor is the community favorite: Meditation aura for mana regen, +150% Enhanced Damage, 25% Damage Reduce, with 31,791 HP and 348 total resistances in Hell. Hephasto the Armorer offers Holy Fire aura + All Skills +2 with the highest HP (49,605) but lower resistances (175 total).
Consuming a bound demon grants timed buffs based on the demon's type. Duration scales with skill level: ~40s at Lv1, ~3m40s at Lv10, ~7m at Lv20. Buffs range from Tier 3 (resist + max resist + pierce) to Tier 1 (single resist or damage%). All consumes additionally grant max HP +(5+level)% and movement speed.
At Bind Demon Lv20+, a random aura is assigned from a pool of 8. Conviction (reduces enemy defense and resistances) is best for caster builds, while Fanaticism (boosts attack speed, damage, and rating) excels for melee and summoner builds. Unbinding kills the demon instantly, so you must find and bind a new one to re-roll the aura — may take several attempts.
Grades are based on a 0–100 total score combining Combat (0–50) and Buff Quality (0–50). Combat uses Hell stats: HP (25pts), Defense (15pts), Total Resistances (10pts). Buff Quality scores range from 50 (aura + all skills) down to 14 (basic damage%). S≥80, A≥65, B≥50, C≥35, D<35.
Bound demons can be used two ways: ① keep alive as a combat pet (retains Lv20+ aura affix), or ② consume for timed buffs (demon is destroyed). Choose based on your build.
Summoner: Keep S-tier demons alive as combat pets. At Lv20+, the Aura Enchanted affix grants a random aura — Conviction or Fanaticism boosts all summons. Stack with merc's Might aura. Optionally consume Lister for Meditation + ED buff during safe fights.
Blood Boil: Consume Bishibosh for fire pierce buff. Caster builds benefit more from consume buffs than keeping a pet. 125 FCR for boss-killing.
Echoing Strike: Consume demons with Crushing Blow or damage% buffs, or keep a demon alive with Fanaticism aura for attack speed.
Apocalypse (Fire): Consume Bishibosh for fire resist + max + pierce. Combine with Sunder Charm to break Hell fire immunities.
